1. About Accounting Empire

Accounting Empire ("the Game") is a free browser-based game operated by Socket Digital Limited ("Socket", "we", "us", "our"). Socket Digital Limited is a company registered in England and Wales (company number 14567554, VAT number 431703036), with registered office at Unit 14 Greenway Farm, Bath Road, Wick, Bristol, England, BS30 5RL.

By creating an account or playing the Game, you agree to these Terms & Conditions ("Terms") and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Game.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. By registering, you confirm that you meet this requirement.

These Terms form a legally binding agreement between you and Socket Digital Limited, governed by the laws of England and Wales.

3. Creating an account

To access certain features including the leaderboard, you must create an account by providing a valid email address and a gamer handle (username).

You agree to: provide accurate information when registering; keep your login credentials secure and not share them with others; notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised use of your account; and be responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

4. Referral programme

Accounting Empire includes an optional referral scheme. If you share your unique referral link and another user registers via that link, we record the association between your accounts. Participation in the referral scheme is entirely optional and creates no obligation on either party.

5. Gamer handles and the public leaderboard

Your chosen gamer handle will be displayed publicly on the leaderboard if you achieve a qualifying score. By selecting a handle, you confirm that it does not impersonate another person or entity, does not contain offensive, discriminatory, or inappropriate language, and you consent to it being displayed publicly.

We reserve the right to remove or change any handle that we deem to be in violation of these Terms, without prior notice.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to: use cheats, exploits, automation tools, bots, or any unauthorised third-party software to manipulate game scores; attempt to tamper with or circumvent our server-side score validation; create multiple accounts to manipulate the leaderboard; use the Game in any way that is unlawful, harmful, or disruptive to other users; or attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems or other users' accounts.

Violation of this section may result in immediate account suspension or permanent ban, at our sole discretion.

7. Intellectual property

All content within the Game — including but not limited to graphics, code, text, and design — is owned by or licensed to Socket Digital Limited. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the Game without our express written permission.

8. The Socket connection

The Game includes references to Socket, our accounting client management software. These references are informational only. Use of the Game does not create any obligation to use Socket's commercial products or services, and does not constitute a business relationship between you and Socket Digital Limited beyond these Terms.

9. Availability and changes

We provide the Game on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not guarantee that the Game will be available at all times or free from errors, or that leaderboard data will be retained indefinitely.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Game (or any part of it) at any time without notice. We will notify registered users of material changes by email. Continued use of the Game after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Socket Digital Limited shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of the Game, including loss of data or leaderboard progress.

Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under English law.

11. Account deletion

You may delete your account at any time from your account settings. Upon deletion, your account data will be removed in accordance with our Privacy Policy and your gamer handle will be removed from the leaderboard. If you need further assistance, you can also contact us at legal@usesocket.com.

12. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Game shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
